Yahaya presents N536 bn 2026 budget to Gombe Assembly

Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has presented a budget of 535.69 billion naira to the State House of Assembly for its legislative duty ahead of  2026 fiscal year.

The budget, tagged as the “Budget of Consolidation,” was presented before the State House of Assembly on Thursday in Gombe.

Yahaya while presenting the figures, said that 535, 691,983,000.00 naira was recurrent and capital expenditures.

He said that out of the figure, 164, 250,813, 000.00 naira was allocated for recurrent expenditure, accounting for 30.66 per cent while 371,441,170,000.00 naira was earmarked for capital expenditure, representing 69.34 per cent of the budgeted sum.

Explaining how the budget would be funded, Yahaya said: “In the 2026 fiscal year, we plan to generate the sum of N416,102,996,204.00 only as recurrent revenues, and the sum of N225,570,000,000.00 only as capital receipts.”

According to him, the state’s estimated closing balance for 2025 is expected to be in the region of 100 billion naira

The governor said the budget was entitled the “Budget of Consolidation” to reflect his administration’s determination to consolidate its gains and institutionalise impactful governance.

He said the budget was designed to be both visionary and pragmatic, thereby ensuring that the state’s fiscal policies translated into tangible improvements in the lives of its citizens.

On the performance of 2025 budget of 451.66 billion naira, Yahaya said as at Sept. 30, it stood at 219.029 billion naira representing or 60.12 per cent.

Hon. Abubakar Luggerewo, Speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly, commended Yahaya for his administration’s efforts towards improving the wellbeing of citizens of the state.

Luggerrewo assured that speedy and due legislative activities on the budget would be carried out in the interest of the people and the development of the state. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
