Women, girls abducted in Kano as bandits attack communities

Armed bandits have stormed Sundu and Biresawa villages in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, kidnapping multiple women and girls during a late-night invasion that has intensified anxiety among residents of border settlements.

Both communities sit along the Katsina–Kano boundary, a route increasingly exploited by criminal groups despite a recent peace pact covering Ingawa, Kankia, and Kusada LGAs in Katsina State.

The incident was reported on X by security analyst Bakatsine, who noted that rather than reducing attacks, recent patterns suggest a shift of bandit activities toward border villages.

“Yesterday night, armed bandits raided the Sundu and Biresawa villages of Tsanyawa LGA in Kano State, abducting several women and girls. The communities lie along the Katsina–Kano border, a corridor frequently exploited by armed groups,” Bakatsine wrote.

He raised concerns over the effectiveness of the peace agreement, questioning whether it has produced genuine improvements in security or simply displaced violence from one area of the northwest to another.

At the time of writing, security operatives are yet to give any details as regards the attack
