Woman kills her husband 3 days after wedding

Katsina State Police have arrested a woman, Zainab Muhammad, for allegedly killing her husband just three days after their wedding in Jibia Local Government Area.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Abubakar Aliyu, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Command, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, November 25.

He said the couple had barely begun their married life when the tragic incident occurred.

According to Aliyu, the groom, identified as Abdullahi, was found in a pool of blood at his residence in Tashar Buja community.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.

“On November 23, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., a report was received at the Jibia Division that Abdullahi, a newly wedded groom, was found motionless in a pool of blood in his residence at Tashar Buja Quarters, Jibia LGA,” Aliyu said.

“Detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was found with a deep cut to his neck. He was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.”

The police have named Muhammad, the deceased’s wife, as the prime suspect. Investigations revealed that she allegedly stabbed her husband while he was asleep before leaving the house. Neighbours reportedly discovered the body and quickly alerted the authorities.

A family member disclosed that the marriage had been forced, despite the couple maintaining a cordial relationship before the wedding.

Muhammad is currently in police custody as detectives continue their investigations to determine the motive behind the shocking killing.
