A 32-year-old woman Aisha Usman, was on Thursday arraigned before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing fabrics worth N630,000.

The police charged Usman, of Kinkinau Kaduna with theft and false representation.

The Prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the matter was reported at Gabasawa Police Station by the complainant, Garba Sani of Kawo Kaduna on Sept. 14.

Leo said on the same date at about 1:00pm, the defendant entered the complainant’s textile fabric shop located at Central Market Kaduna as a customer and collected fabrics worth N630, 000 under false pretense.

The Prosecutor said the defendant went to the shop and told the sales representative that, the owner of the shop instructed that he should give her fabric worth N630, 000.

He added that the defendant was arrested and handed over to the police when the owner came back as she was about to leave.

Leo said the offence contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail with  the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Emmanuel said the surety must live within the court’s jurisdiction.

He ordered that the surety must provide means of Identification, valid address verified by an officer of the court and also provide an Affidavit of Kinship.

Emmanuel adjourned the case until Oct. 23 for hearing.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
