Wike’s PDP faction announces emergency NEC meeting amid expulsion saga

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Abdulrahman Mohammed has called an emergency meeting for its top leadership on Tuesday in Abuja.

The meetings will hold at the party’s national secretariat in Wadata Plaza as tensions rise over the recent expulsion of key members.

NEC and BoT Meetings Confirmed

A notice issued by Samuel Anyanwu, an ally of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said the Board of Trustees will meet at 11am.

The National Executive Committee will gather at 2pm at the same venue.

The party said the meetings are compulsory because important decisions will be taken.

This upcoming gathering is the 103rd emergency NEC meeting in the history of the PDP.

Expulsion of Wike, Others Raise Fresh Division

The meetings come shortly after the party announced the expulsion of Nyesom Wike and several others for alleged anti-party activities.

Wike, who now serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, was removed alongside Samuel Anyanwu and former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose.

The party also expelled Umar Bature, Dan Orbih, George Turner, Mao Ohabunwa, Ajibade Kamarudeen, Abdulrahman Mohammed and two more officials.

The decision has created new cracks within the party’s ranks.

Governors Distance Themselves from the Move

Plateau and Adamawa State Governors, Caleb Mutfwang and Fintiri, have already denied supporting the expulsions.

He said the matter was not discussed at the PDP Governors’ Forum or the NEC meeting.

Some of those expelled have also rejected the decision. George Turner criticised the announcement and restated his loyalty to Wike.
