“Wike Said He Is Leading A Faction Of PDP,Which Faction? He Is No Longer Member Of Our Party–George

According to a report by The Sun on Monday, March 30, 2026, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olabode George, has raised concerns over what he described as a coordinated effort aimed at weakening the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Sunday, the party leader alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress, alongside the Presidency and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, are involved in activities intended to destabilise the PDP.

George explained that recent political developments within the party point to a broader strategy designed to create division and reduce the PDP’s influence across the country.

He maintained that the actions being observed are not isolated incidents but part of a deliberate attempt to weaken the party’s structure before the next election cycle.

According to him, such moves reflect a misunderstanding of the party’s resilience and its ability to withstand political pressure.

In his remarks, George used an analogy to describe the situation, comparing it to a scenario where actions and appearances do not align.

He suggested that while certain actors may present themselves in one way, their actions reveal a different intention.

He expressed the view that the individuals and groups he mentioned are making a serious miscalculation regarding the strength and unity of the PDP, insisting that the party remains intact despite internal and external challenges.

The former deputy national chairman also addressed the issue of Mr Wike’s membership status within the party.

He stated that the former governor was formally expelled from the PDP during a convention held in Ibadan in November of the previous year.

Based on this position, George argued that Mr Wike no longer has the authority to speak on behalf of the party or claim leadership of any of its factions.

He added that any such claims create confusion and do not reflect the official standing of the PDP.

He said, “He said he is leading a faction of PDP. Which faction? He is no longer a member of our party. Their expulsion stands as at today. So, it doesn’t make any sense for him to be using Federal Government agents, from Abuja to Rivers, intimidating Nigerians, and claiming to be speaking on behalf of a faction of PDP.”
