Why I dropped Otedola and replaced it with Ajibade after marriage — Mr Eazi’s wife, Temi

Actress Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has shared her reasons for adopting her husband’s surname, Ajibade, after marrying Afrobeats singer Mr Eazi.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC on Wednesday, Temi explained that taking her partner’s name was a personal decision she made after marriage, adding that while it felt natural to her, she also respects the right of other women to make their own choices.

“I’m now a married woman, the obvious thing for me is to take my husband’s name. But it’s my personal choice… I also respect a woman’s ability to choose,” she said.

Temi speaks on privacy

She noted that maintaining privacy in her relationship has been key to shaping her own story, stressing that keeping things low-key allows her to decide when and how to share details publicly.

“Moving in silence allows you to build the story you want and share it when and how you’re ready,” she added.

On her father’s recently released memoir, Temi said the book serves as a window into his long entrepreneurial journey, highlighting the wisdom he has gathered over the decades.

She acknowledged that, while she has benefited greatly from his guidance, the memoir now offers others the same opportunity to learn from his experiences.

Temi reflects on her privileged background

Reflecting on her privileged background, Temi admitted she would never deny the advantages it has given her.

However, she revealed that her father deliberately chose not to involve his children in his businesses, a decision that initially disappointed her but later pushed her to build her own career.

She added that his resilience during difficult times remains one of her biggest sources of motivation.
