Federal lawmaker and son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, Bello El-Rufai, has questioned the rationale behind using public resources to purchase cars for supporters, arguing that such funds would be better spent on tuition and healthcare for constituents.
The statement was contained in a post shared by Mohammed Bello El-Rufai on his official X account on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
In a post that surfaced online, Bello El-Rufai described himself as a student of public policy and questioned the use of public funds for patronage. He stated that it would be unjustifiable to deploy resources from Kaduna North to purchase 20 cars for supporters when the same funds could be used to pay tuition fees and provide healthcare insurance for constituents.
According to Bello El-Rufai on his official X account;
“Why will I ever use Kaduna North resources to buy 20 cars to my supporters when the cost of 20 cars can pay tuition fees and provide healthcare insurance? But as I said, everyone has a right to choose. What I will not allow to go on is this notion of closeness.”
