PDP Board of Trustees member Chief Olabode George has criticised the faction of the party aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, accusing them of pushing for a Nigeria in which the PDP would have no presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Chief Bode George said, “Who are these little fellows who are trying to cause trouble that we will have only one political party in Nigeria to run an election? It is worse than an infidel in infidelity. That we will not accept. Those of our people who are planning to run, we will make sure they have a platform to run on. What is it that they want? As we are talking with them, they are doing congresses. Congresses for who and for what? They don’t want to listen to the discussion that is going on,” he said.
Chief George further made a passionate defence of Nigeria’s democratic heritage, speaking on the country’s role in liberating Nelson Mandela and dismantling military rule across the continent.
He pointed to Nigeria’s contributions to peacekeeping and democratic consolidation in Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, and Somalia as evidence of a nation that had always stood on the right side of history.
