In a video shared by TVC News, Nyesom Wike has shared his perspective on party development and political structure in Nigeria.
Wike spoke on the evolution of political parties, emphasizing that strong institutions are not necessarily built on the number of governors they have at inception.
His remarks come amid ongoing discussions about party strength and leadership across the country.
According to him, “When PDP was founded, there was no governor. When APC started, how many governors did they have? It is not governors that make the party.”
He explained that political parties are built on ideology, structure, and the commitment of their members rather than the number of elected officials they immediately attract.
Wike noted that history has shown that parties can grow and gain influence over time through consistent engagement and organization.
The FCT minister further stated that focusing solely on the number of governors or high-ranking officials may not provide a complete picture of a party’s strength.
