Dapo Lam-Adesina, who previously served as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, has stated that the present government is mainly continuing the programs initiated by the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi.
In an interview with Edmund Obilo, Lam-Adesina referred to Ajimobi as the key pioneer behind what he termed as the modernization of Oyo State. He noted that many of the current projects and advancements being carried out by Governor Seyi Makinde are based on the policies and frameworks set in place during Ajimobi’s administration.
“When you discuss the modern Oyo State, you must acknowledge Ajimobi’s contributions. Everything that Governor Seyi Makinde is pursuing today was initiated by Governor Ajimobi. The roads, the development of infrastructure and facilities — Ajimobi laid the groundwork. He is the founder of modern Oyo State,” he remarked.
Lam-Adesina also described Ajimobi as a leader with a unique governing style influenced by his experience in the private sector. He pointed out that the former governor held high expectations and was not inclined to accept inferior execution of projects, stressing the importance of quality and accountability in public service.
He further mentioned that Ajimobi introduced a results-oriented approach to governance, applying principles from the business world to the management of the state. This approach, according to him, established a new standard for governance during his tenure.
Moreover, Lam-Adesina emphasized Ajimobi’s talent for identifying and backing capable individuals, noting that the former governor had a keen eye for talent and was eager to empower those he thought could make substantial contributions.
