What Does B’Haram Want? They Want To Islamize, Simple But In North-West These Are Jihadists—Saror

In an interview with Vanguard on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Prof. Daniel Saror, former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University and ex-Senator representing Benue North East, has raised concerns about the prolonged fight against Boko Haram in Nigeria, stating that the country has been battling the group for more than 20 years, yet the threat remains serious.

‎According to Prof Saror, Nigeria has committed huge resources to tackle Boko Haram, the government has deployed military forces, invested in security operations, and allocated significant funding to fight the insurgency, despite these efforts, he said, Boko Haram continues to pose a major challenge to the country’s security.

‎Prof Saror explained that the group’s main goal is simple, they want to Islamize Nigeria, Boko Haram aims to take over land and impose Islamic law on the population, he warned that the North-West states (Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi) are particularly affected, these areas, he said, have become strongholds for jihadists who are determined to control territory.

‎The former vice chancellor described Boko Haram as highly organized and committed and noted that their presence has disrupted communities, destroyed property, and caused widespread fear, he said the militants’ activities are not only a security concern but also a threat to the social and economic stability of the affected regions.

‎He stressed that the fight against Boko Haram is long and complex, while the Nigerian government has taken strong action, Prof Saror said more is needed to secure the country and urged authorities to remain vigilant and to continue investing in both military and community-based strategies to counter the insurgency.

‎”We have committed huge resources of Nigeria to fight Boko Haram. And what does Boko Haram want? They want to Islamize, simple. But in the North-West, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, these are jihadists,” he said.See_More…
