We’ll Construct, Renovate Islamiyya Schools Next Year — Gov Aliyu

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has announced that his administration will construct new Islamiyya schools and renovate dilapidated ones across the State beginning next year.

The Governor made this disclosure at the commissioning of the remodelled Kirare village Jumu’at Mosque and a block of classrooms in Goronyo Local Government Area.

According to him, the initiative aims to enhance Islamic education and inculcate sound moral values in children, enabling them to become responsible members of society.

“For us to correct the wrong perceptions some non-Muslims have about Islam, we must educate our people on the true teachings of the religion. Islamiyya schools are critical in raising a morally sound society,” the Governor
stated.

Governor Aliyu further directed that graveyard attendants be placed on the government payroll in recognition of the important role they play in society.

On mosque renovations, the Governor revealed that his administration has awarded contracts for the remodeling of 65 mosques across the State. He noted that the Kirare Jumu’at Mosque is the 16th to be commissioned under the initiative.

He urged benefiting communities to take ownership of the projects by maintaining the facilities and keeping them clean at all times.

In his goodwill message, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, commended the Governor for his commitment to renovating and constructing mosques. He called on communities to keep the mosques clean and to continue praying fervently for Allah’s intervention in ending insecurity in the State and Nigeria at large.

Also speaking, the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Goronyo, praised Governor Aliyu for implementing people-oriented projects across Sokoto. He noted that the State is witnessing massive transformations in critical sectors including road networks, water supply, agriculture, and security. He later commissioned the remodelled Kirare Jumu’at Mosque.
