We want to know what you’ll do differently – Dayo Amusa challenges Peter Obi

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has criticised Labour Party’s Peter Obi over his response to questions about his 10,000 megawatts electricity promise during a recent interview with journalist Rufai Oseni.

In the podcast, Oseni told Obi that people often say his criticism of President Bola Tinubu is “shallow” and that he hardly provides solutions to national issues. Oseni referenced Obi’s pledge to generate, transmit and distribute 10,000 megawatts of electricity within four years if elected president.

Responding, Obi said: “What people do is because I do not have the sophistication of the media and everything, somebody once said, ‘If I don’t give you electricity, don’t vote for me.’ Did they question him then on how he would do that? So why must my own be in the marketplace? The reason I am different is that what I promised as governor, I delivered. In 4 years, we are going to generate, transmit and distribute 10,000 megawatts of electricity. I won’t tell you how, it is for you to look at the man who is saying this, check my political track record and trust the man saying this.”

Reacting to the interview on X, Dayo Amusa said a leader should be able to explain their plans clearly to the public. “A leader should be able to answer how and what they can do differently. No sir, you can’t criticize all government policies and not give solutions to them,” she wrote.

Amusa added: “It’s very obvious you don’t want people to vote for you; that is why you want to keep your plans to your chest. It’s not a secret affair; we want to know what you’re going to do differently. I watched the podcast with Rufai; it wasn’t inspiring.”

Obi was governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014. The exchange between Obi, Oseni, and Amusa, and Amusa’s subsequent reaction, has since drawn comments across social media.
