A Nigerian lawyer has gone viral online after reacting to supporters of Lt Yerima in a widely shared video showing the naval officer blocking FCT minister Nyesom Wike.
In a blunt social media post on X (formerly Twitter), the lawyer called the support “nonsense” and questioned its legal basis.
The drama started when a video emerged of Lt Yerima preventing Minister Nyesom Wike from entering a property in Abuja. While some praised Yerima, others criticized the act as unconstitutional.
Reacting online, the lawyer wrote:
“LMAO. What he did was nonsense o and finds no legal support. We are only supporting him because of the other guy.”
He argued that using armed personnel to block a federal minister from performing official duties may violate the Constitution and the Armed Forces Act.
The comment quickly went viral, sparking debates across social media. A commenter wrote, “This lawyer is speaking the truth! Soldiers blocking a federal minister? Madness!”
Another added, “LMAO… this support is really nonsense. People just backing him blindly.” One more opined, “Finally someone explained why this is illegal. Yerima’s actions have consequences.”
The incident has reignited conversations about the role of military officers in civil matters and whether public support should ever justify actions that may breach the law.
