WAEC Temporarily Withdraws 2025 WASSCE Results Over Technical Glitch

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a temporary withdrawal of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates following the discovery of technical issues during a post-release review process.

In a press release signed by Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs, WAEC disclosed that the internal review revealed bugs in the results linked to an innovation recently introduced to curb examination malpractice.

WAEC had deployed a paper serialization system in key subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. The move, which aligns with global best practices, was aimed at enhancing assessment integrity.

However, the Council admitted that the new system inadvertently caused technical anomalies in the published results.

“As a result of the technical glitches that led to this situation, access to the WASSCE (SC) 2025 results has been temporarily denied on the result checker portal,” the Council stated.

The examination body said it is urgently working to review and correct the affected results and has assured the public that the matter would be resolved within 24 hours.

WAEC has advised candidates who had already checked their results to revisit the portal after the correction period.

WAEC also expressed deep regret to all affected students and stakeholders, extending its “sincere apologies” and emphasizing its commitment to fairness, professionalism, and transparency in assessment procedures.

The Council reaffirmed its dedication to delivering quality service, noting that its integrity remains a cornerstone of its operations.

The 2025 WASSCE was conducted for school candidates across Nigeria and other West African countries. It remains one of the most critical standardized examinations for secondary school leavers seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
