Celebrity fashion designer, Seyi Vodi, has called for prompt tax payment to fast-track President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and accelerate infrastructure development in the FCT.
Vodi made the call on Friday in Abuja during a visit to the FCT Internal Revenue Service headquarters, where he voluntarily filed his Annual Tax Return.
He urged business owners in the FCT and nationwide to discharge their civic duty, saying voluntary tax compliance would support development of the territory and the country.
According to him, tax payment remains a key driver of sustainable development and increased compliance would strengthen government capacity to meet citizens’ needs.
“It is noble to pay taxes because this is the money government uses for infrastructure and public services for the people.
“I urge business owners, especially tailors, to voluntarily fulfil this responsibility for the progress of the FCT and Nigeria,” he said.
Vodi commended FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, saying infrastructural development under his leadership, particularly roads and security, was “unprecedented and visible”.
Acting FCT-IRS Chairman, Michael Ango, praised Vodi for filing voluntarily, describing his action as worthy of emulation by business owners and high-net-worth individuals.
Ango noted that Vodi was the first high-net-worth individual to file this year, adding that the Service would issue him a letter of commendation. (NAN)
