Viral reunion party sparks debate as all classmates reside abroad

A reunion party of Nigerian men in their mid-50s has stirred conversations online after a video revealed that none of them currently reside in Nigeria.

In the trending clip, the men, all dressed in elegant agbada attire, took turns introducing themselves by name, profession, and country of residence.

To the surprise of many viewers, each alumnus stated that they lived either in Canada or the United States, with none declaring Nigeria as home.

The video quickly gained traction on social media, sparking mixed reactions. While some praised the men for making successful lives abroad, others criticised the situation as a subtle reflection of Nigeria’s challenges.

Many commenters argued that the moment symbolised the impact of the country’s economic and political climate, pushing citizens to seek opportunities outside the country. Some also suggested the introductions carried undertones of “oppression,” as they highlighted migration as a status symbol.
