Social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has issued a public apology after his altercation with comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, also known as Mr Jollof, caused delays aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight.
The confrontation, which occurred on a flight from Asaba to Lagos, was captured on video and showed both men engaging in a physical scuffle as fellow passengers intervened to restore calm.
In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, VeryDarkMan acknowledged his misconduct and accepted full responsibility for the disruption.
“I would really like to apologise for what happened yesterday on the United Nigeria Airlines,” he said. “What happened was not supposed to happen, and I take full responsibility for it.”
He noted that passengers on the flight were inconvenienced due to the delay caused by the incident.
“A lot of people on that flight had important things to do. Some might have had medical emergencies or business commitments. I don’t know what that delay may have cost them, and I sincerely apologise,” he added.
Reflecting on the incident, he admitted that his behaviour was reckless: “Looking back at what happened, I really didn’t like that part. Even though some people took it as cruise on social media, I acted irresponsibly.”
VeryDarkMan gave assurance that such conduct would not occur again, particularly in public spaces.
