Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has hailed former United States President Donald J. Trump as the “president of the world,” commending his past leadership and peace-making influence.
This happened during a bilateral exchange following Trump’s announcement of a major U.S.-Uzbekistan trade deal.
Mirziyoyev credited Trump with preventing global conflicts during his tenure. He said, “In Uzbekistan, we call you the president of the world. You’ve done a lot. You were able to stop eight wars.”
Call for peace in Russia-Ukraine war
Mirziyoyev expressed strong confidence in Trump’s ability to help end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, describing him as uniquely positioned to restore peace between both nations.
“I’m convinced that the war between Russia and Ukraine can be stopped only by you. And we are very much hopeful for that,” he said.
Trump, who has repeatedly claimed he could end the Russia-Ukraine war swiftly if re-elected, welcomed the remarks, describing Uzbekistan’s position as “highly respectful and visionary.”
Strengthening economic ties
Earlier, Trump announced an “incredible Trade and Economic Deal” between the United States and Uzbekistan, involving over $35 billion in investments over the next three years and more than $100 billion over a decade.
The investments are expected to span sectors such as critical minerals, aviation, infrastructure, agriculture, and information technology.
“I want to thank Uzbekistan’s highly respected President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. We look forward to a long and productive relationship between our countries,” Trump said.
The partnership is anticipated to boost employment and expand economic cooperation between both nations.
