The United States has carried out a major airstrike on a large ammunition depot in Isfahan, using powerful 2,000-pound bunker-buster bombs, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
A US official cited in the report said a significant number of penetrator munitions were deployed in the operation, targeting what was described as a key underground military storage facility. The strike reportedly triggered multiple secondary explosions across the site.
US President Donald Trump later shared an uncaptioned video on Truth Social showing a series of large explosions lighting up the night sky, widely believed to be footage from the attack.
The strike forms part of a broader US campaign against Iranian military infrastructure over the past month. According to US officials, American forces have targeted more than 10,000 military sites across Iran during the ongoing conflict.
Separately, the military of Israel said it has struck over 3,000 Iran-related targets within the same period, underscoring the scale of the coordinated pressure on Tehran’s defence capabilities.
Isfahan is regarded as a strategically important location due to its concentration of military and industrial facilities, and has been repeatedly targeted during the current hostilities.
No immediate casualty figures or official damage assessments from Iranian authorities were available at the time of reporting.
