According to a report by The Telegraph on Sunday, March 08, 2026, The United States is reportedly considering deploying commandos to secure Iran’s nuclear facilities and remove enriched uranium, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
“What was discussed is the entry of special forces to secure nuclear material that can be used to produce nuclear weapons,” a source told Axios. “They will enter together with scientists, perhaps with the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency].”
It remains unclear whether Iran, which has reportedly approached Washington seeking a ceasefire, has been consulted or involved in these plans.
The reported strategy aligns with long-standing U.S. objectives regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Officials have repeatedly stated that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons is a primary goal, alongside efforts to dismantle its ballistic missile infrastructure and naval capabilities. The administration has also highlighted the aim of limiting Iran-backed proxy groups’ influence throughout the Middle East.
The proposed involvement of the IAEA indicates an attempt to combine military precision with international oversight, potentially ensuring compliance with global nuclear safeguards while minimizing the risk of proliferation. Experts note that such operations would require careful coordination, given the sensitive nature of nuclear sites and the potential for regional escalation.
Analysts have warned that any unilateral military action against Iranian nuclear facilities could heighten tensions, complicate diplomatic efforts, and increase the likelihood of wider conflict in the region. U.S. officials have emphasized that all options remain under consideration, including diplomatic measures, sanctions, and targeted strikes, while military planning continues in parallel.
The situation highlights the delicate balance the United States seeks to maintain between preventing nuclear proliferation and avoiding a broader confrontation. Washington has reiterated its commitment to pursuing coordinated strategies with allies while safeguarding global security.See_More…
