A Nigerian lady has sparked conversation on social media after sharing a post questioning the popular idea of being an “understanding girlfriend” in a struggling relationship.
The woman shared her thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), where she expressed confusion about why some women proudly describe themselves as “understanding” even when both partners appear to be struggling financially.
In her post, she explained that in many relationships, both the woman and her boyfriend may be broke, yet the woman is often praised for being patient or supportive.
Lady Questions Meaning of “Understanding Girlfriend”
According to the lady, situations often arise where the boyfriend is hustling to survive while the girlfriend has no job or source of income, yet she is still labelled the one “understanding” the situation.
She also described scenarios where the boyfriend buys groceries from the little money he makes, cooks food, and both partners eat together, but the girlfriend still claims she is the one making sacrifices.
The lady further pointed out that when both partners share intimacy in the relationship, the satisfaction is mutual. She questioned why only the woman is seen as the one enduring hardship.
