Kaduna State Governor, Uba San.

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the release of ₦2.321 billion for the payment of pension entitlements, gratuities, and death benefits to retirees and families of deceased civil servants across the state.

The payment covers both Accrued Rights under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and Gratuity/Death Benefits under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of senior citizens.

According to the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the governor’s decision underscores the administration’s priority on the welfare of pensioners. He said regular and timely payment of retirement benefits was essential to reducing the financial burden faced by retirees and their families.

Data from the Kaduna State Pension Bureau show that the latest disbursement will benefit 661 retirees and families across both state and local government service. Of the total amount, ₦1.736 billion will go toward settling Accrued Rights for 511 retirees under the CPS, while ₦585 million will be disbursed for Gratuities and Death Benefits to 315 pensioners and next-of-kin under the DBS.

The Executive Secretary of the Pension Bureau, Ibrahim Balarabe, explained that beneficiaries under the Contributory Pension Scheme will have their funds credited directly into their Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) with their respective Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs). Meanwhile, those under the Defined Benefit Scheme will be invited for screening and verification before receiving payment.

With this latest intervention, the Kaduna State Government has now disbursed ₦6.678 billion in pension and gratuity payments in 2025 alone, bringing the total payout under Governor Uba Sani’s administration to ₦13.5 billion in just two years.

Governor Sani reiterated his administration’s dedication to creating a fair and sustainable pension system that guarantees dignity and financial stability for retirees who have served the state with distinction.
