Two Power Stations Destroyed in Mobarakeh County in US-Israeli Strikes, Isfahan Governor Says

According to a report by Al-Jazeera on Friday, March 27, 2026, the governor of Isfahan province in Iran has reported significant damage and casualties following recent US-Israeli military strikes, according to Iran’s official IRNA news agency. Mehdi Jamalnejad said the attacks have killed 25 workers across various locations in the province, highlighting the severity of the strikes on Iran’s critical infrastructure.

Jamalnejad detailed that two power stations in Mobarakeh county, with capacities of 914 and 250 megawatts, were completely destroyed during the attacks. In addition to the power plants, a production complex in the county also sustained heavy damage. Part of the Mobarakeh steel production workshop, a key industrial facility in the province, was reportedly affected, disrupting operations in one of Iran’s major industrial hubs.

Relief and rescue teams have been deployed to the affected areas, with authorities working to clear debris and assess the full extent of the damage. Jamalnejad emphasized that emergency personnel are prioritizing the safety of remaining workers and the surrounding communities while attempting to restore basic services as quickly as possible.

The strikes come amid heightened tensions in the region following the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran. Analysts note that attacks on energy infrastructure represent a strategic effort to disrupt Iran’s industrial and economic capacities, potentially affecting electricity supply, steel production, and other critical sectors. The destruction of the Mobarakeh power stations is expected to have immediate implications for electricity distribution in the province, raising concerns about energy shortages and broader economic disruption.

Iranian officials have condemned the strikes, describing them as unjustified aggression that threatens regional stability and the safety of civilians and workers.
