Two key Super Eagles Players Miss Training Ahead Of Jordan Friendly

A report by Daily Post Nigeria on Sunday, March 29, 2026, suggests that Nigeria may have to make notable adjustments to their defence ahead of Tuesday’s friendly match against Jordan, after two important Super Eagles defenders missed a recovery training session.

Team manager Eric Chelle is currently getting his squad ready for the encounter following their 2-1 triumph over Iran on Friday.

During that game, Akor Adams and Moses Simon scored the goals that secured the win for Nigeria, who finished third at the 2025 AFCON. Attention has now turned to their next friendly fixture against Jordan.

Nonetheless, Chelle could face defensive challenges, as Semi Ajayi and Igoh Ogbu did not participate in Saturday’s training session.

Ajayi had been substituted at halftime in the match against Iran, with Emmanuel Fernandez replacing him, although no explanation was given for the change. Ogbu, who was also in the starting lineup, was taken off in the 56th minute after appearing to suffer an injury.

There has been no official update regarding the extent of Ogbu’s condition. Training footage shared by the Super Eagles media team showed the squad undergoing light exercises on Saturday, but both defenders were absent.

Out of the players who started against Iran, only nine took part in light jogging, with Ajayi and Ogbu missing. Their absence is likely a precautionary step to prevent further injury. Still, with more training sessions planned for Sunday and Monday, there remains a possibility that both players could be fit in time to face Jordan.
