Two armed bandits were shot dead during a midnight gunfight with security operatives in the Mada District of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the update on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, said the operation was based on credible intelligence about an impending bandit attack on villages in the area.
According to Makama, around 3:10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, a joint team comprising police tactical operatives, Community Protection Guards (CPG), and local hunters ambushed the bandits at Fegin Mahe village along their suspected route.
He reported that three armed men were intercepted, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire. “Two of the suspects were killed on the spot, while one escaped with gunshot injuries,” Makama said.
The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the operation, noting that efforts are underway to track down the fleeing suspect and sustain peace in the region.
