United States President Donald Trump has announced that the White House will host an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event on June 14, 2026, coinciding with his 80th birthday.
Trump made the announcement while addressing Navy sailors at the Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia, saying, “On June 14 next year, we’re going to have a big UFC fight at the White House, right at the White House, on the grounds of the White House.” The date also marks Flag Day in the United States.
The move comes after UFC President Dana White had initially scheduled the event for July 4, 2026, to coincide with the nation’s 250th Independence anniversary. White previously described the fight card as “the greatest ever assembled in the history of this company.”
Trump, a longtime supporter of UFC, has frequently attended high-profile events and is well-known among the sport’s fanbase. His association with UFC and the sport’s popularity among younger male audiences has made him a regular and often celebrated presence at fights.
Founded in 1993, UFC is the world’s largest mixed martial arts organization, featuring bouts in the eight-sided “Octagon” where fighters engage in striking and grappling contests. While the sport has grown in popularity, it remains controversial due to its violent nature and high risk of injury, with medical experts warning about potential long-term brain damage for fighters.
If held as planned, the White House event would mark the first time a UFC fight takes place on the presidential grounds, blending sports, politics, and pop culture in a historically unprecedented setting. Observers note that it is likely to draw significant attention and debate due to both its spectacle and the unique venue.
