Trump should’ve called Tinubu on phone, America has no right to invade Nigeria – TVC Host

Nyma Akashat-Zibiri, a host on a TVC morning programme has criticised President Donald Trump’s decision to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern without first consulting President Bola Tinubu.

During the live broadcast, Akashat-Zibiri expressed disappointment that Trump made such a serious declaration without any diplomatic communication with Nigeria’s leadership.

She described the action as disrespectful to the sovereignty of the country.

Nigeria’s Sovereignty Must Be Respected

“Trump should’ve called Tinubu on the phone before coming out publicly to threat£n Nigeria. Nigeria is a sovereign nation, and America has no right to invade our country,” she said.

The Akashat-Zibiri admitted that insecurity and killings remain serious issues in Nigeria but maintained that Trump had no moral or legal right to unilaterally make such a declaration.

According to her, acknowledging Nigeria’s security challenges does not justify foreign interference or threats of invasion. She said, “Yes, we have insecurity problems, but that doesn’t mean America can invade Nigeria under the guise of fighting terrorists.”

She further recalled how the United States and other international communities failed to intervene effectively during the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction in 2014.

Akashat-Zibiri concluded that Nigeria’s problems should be solved internally not through invasion by American military.
