Dr. Sadeque Abubakar Abba, a political scientist in Nigeria, has taken a bold stance on the ongoing international controversy involving Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the U.S. President Donald Trump.
During an appearance on Sunday Politics, Abba alleges that Trump’s actions toward Tinubu are motivated not by concern for Christian genocide, but by personal vengeance.
According to him, Tinubu allegedly funded Kamala Harris’s 2024 U.S. presidential campaign and collaborated with French President Emmanuel Macron to prevent Trump’s electoral victory.
In a recent statement on the show, Dr. Abba said:
“Donald Trump is targeting Tinubu out of vengeance because there is evidence that Tinubu funded Kamala Harris and teamed up with President Macron of France to block Trump’s victory in the election.”
He further explained:
“They knew if Harris had become the president, it would have been a problem for them. Trump is getting back at Tinubu.”
Dr. Abba also suggested a second motive behind the alleged U.S. pressure: Nigeria’s vast energy resources. He claimed that strategic interests in Nigeria’s oil and gas reserves could be a driving factor in the U.S.’s approach.
These claims imply that Trump’s actions toward Tinubu are both personal and political, potentially involving alleged foreign election interference and geopolitical strategy.
While the allegations are controversial, they highlight Tinubu’s perceived influence in international politics and underscore the tensions that can arise when foreign leaders are accused of interfering in other nations’ affairs.
