Nigeria has witnessed another strong reaction from former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, who has sharply criticised United States President Donald Trump over his recent comments on killings in Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode condemned Trump for claiming that the Nigerian Government has done little to end violence in the country, insisting the statement was dangerous and misleading.
Fani-Kayode Attacks Trump’s Remarks on Nigeria
The former minister expressed deep anger in a long public message addressed to Nigerians.
He argued that Trump’s comments always appear to trigger more unrest in Nigeria, and he warned citizens against trusting the US President’s intentions.
In his words, Fani-Kayode wrote: “Dear Fellow Nigerians, Is it not strange to you that each time this blonde-haired, blue-eyed, bully, racist, white supremacist and religious bigot and this ill-bred, ill-informed, recalcitrant war-monger and beastly creature opens its foul mouth more attacks, killings and abductions take place in Nigeria?”
He questioned why many Nigerians fail to recognise what he described as Trump’s hidden agenda.
Accusations That Trump Fuels Insurgency
Fani-Kayode argued that Trump’s comments embolden violent groups.
He said Trump constantly demeans Nigerian institutions, which he believes fuels instability.
He added: “Has it not occurred to you that he is actually fuelling the insurgency with his words and constant denigrating of our people, Armed Forces and Government?”
The former minister claimed the aim was to justify foreign aggression. He alleged a plan to weaken Nigeria and possibly divide it for selfish interests.
Comparison to Conflicts in Sudan and Congo
Fani-Kayode drew parallels between Nigeria’s situation and global crises.
He accused foreign powers of using similar tactics in Sudan and Congo before violence escalated.
He wrote: “This is the same way they demonised the Government of Sudan before unleashing the Janjaweed militia known as the RSF on them and creating carnage in Darfur.”
He insisted that similar actions were taken in Congo before the conflict worsened.
Criticism of Trump’s Relationship with Foreign Leaders
In another strong claim, Fani-Kayode questioned Trump’s stance on protecting Christians.
He claimed Trump publicly welcomed a leader he described as harmful to Christians abroad.
He wrote: “Is it not strange to you that the man that says he wants to deliver and protect Christians in Nigeria welcomed with open arms the greatest butcher of Christians on the planet by the name of Ahmed Al Sharaa…”
He described Trump’s behaviour as contradictory and deceptive.
Warning Against Believing Trump’s Promises
Fani-Kayode warned Nigerians not to believe Trump’s claims of concern.
He used vivid metaphors to describe what he called Trump’s deceitful tactics.
He stated: “Claiming that the King of Mara Lago cares about Nigerian Christians is like claiming that the proverbial wolf cares about Little Red Riding Hood…”
According to him, Trump’s interest is driven by political and economic gain, not love or concern.
Foreign Interference and Alleged Conspiracy Against Nigeria
Fani-Kayode alleged that powerful external forces have plans to destabilise Nigeria.
He argued that foreign actors aim to weaken the Government, create unrest, and fuel political tension.
He claimed: “The script is clear: stoke, provoke and fund chaos, discredit and weaken the sitting Government, incite the people, engender regime change and spark off a civil war…”
The former minister said this has been happening for decades.
Claims of Foreign Support for Terror Groups
The former minister further alleged that foreign nations secretly support extremist groups.
Though he provided no evidence, he asserted that several terror organisations were created by global powers.
He wrote: “They won’t tell you that they created Al Qaeda, ISIS, Boko Haram, the Taliban, Al Shabab, Al Nusra, Ansaru and Lakurawa…”
Fani-Kayode also accused these countries of fuelling conflicts across Africa, the Middle East, and South America.
Nigeria Allegedly Targeted for Destabilisation
According to Fani-Kayode, Nigeria is currently facing international sabotage.
He said foreign collaborators work with local political actors to weaken the nation.
He insisted this pattern affected many past Nigerian governments.
He warned that these actions undermine progress whenever positive steps are made.
Call for Unity and Support for Government
Fani-Kayode urged Nigerians to support the Government and Armed Forces.
He said national unity was the only path to defeating terrorism.
He stated: “The solution to the problem is to support and encourage our Government and Armed Forces to face the challenge squarely and win this war.”
He advised citizens to avoid supporting foreign interference.
Appeal for Faith and Patience
The former minister acknowledged Nigeria’s current security challenges.
However, he said citizens must stay strong and trust the leadership.
He wrote: “Things are tough and the enemy appears to be gaining ground but we must keep faith with God and have confidence that our President can and will turn things around.”
Fani-Kayode encouraged Nigerians to continue praying for the country.
Warning Against Foreign Influence
He insisted that Nigerians must reject outside interference disguised as help.
He argued that foreign military intervention often worsens conflicts.
He wrote: “There is not one country that the Americans have entered with bombs and violence and left better than the way they found it.”
He warned that Nigeria must defend its sovereignty.
Final Message of Hope
Fani-Kayode ended with an optimistic message about Nigeria’s future.
He stressed that unity, faith, and resilience will guide the country through its challenges.
He said Nigerians must stand behind their President, support national institutions, and trust that better days will come.
