Troops Rescue Kidnapped Victim In Taraba, Arrest Suspect

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Whirl Stroke and the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, have rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Ali Adamu, in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.

A statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, said the operation was conducted on October 29, 2025, following a distress call received by troops stationed in Lau.

According to the statement, Alhaji Adamu was kidnapped while sleeping outside his compound, but the troops immediately mobilized and pursued the abductors. On sensing danger, the kidnappers reportedly fled into nearby bushes, abandoning their victim. The troops thereafter rescued Alhaji Adamu unharmed and reunited him with his family without any ransom payment.

In a related development, local vigilantes and hunters on patrol around Maraban Kunini apprehended a suspected kidnapper, identified as Mr. Lalau Adamu, aged 30, alleged to be connected with the abduction. The statement added that the suspect sustained injuries from mob action before being rescued by the troops, who evacuated him to a medical facility for treatment.

The Commander, 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops, vigilantes, and local hunters for their swift response and collaboration which led to the successful rescue.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to help sustain peace and security across the state.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens, assuring that operations will continue until criminal elements are completely flushed out from Taraba State and surrounding areas.
