‎Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued two kidnapped officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

‎A statement issued Friday by Lt. Ahmad Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer, said the rescue operation took place on September 26, 2025, following credible intelligence from appropriate authorities.

‎The victims, identified as David Iorwuese James and Orasuur Oliver, were abducted in Ukum LGA before troops tracked them to Tse Tembe and Adamawa Village in Azendeshi Council Ward.

‎“The troops acted promptly and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation. The two officers were successfully rescued in Adamawa Village after the kidnappers fled,” Zubairu said, adding that the victims are safe and currently undergoing medical checks and debriefing.

‎Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Moses Gara, commended the professionalism of the troops. He noted that the operation “underscores the determination of OPWS to respond swiftly to distress calls, protect citizens, and secure farmlands to enhance food security in Benue and neighbouring states.”

‎The commander appealed to residents to sustain collaboration with security agencies by providing timely intelligence to enable troops curb criminal activities in the region.
