The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) have foiled multiple terror attacks, rescued dozens of kidnapped victims and disrupted oil theft valued at over ₦15.6 million in sustained nationwide operations between December 12 and 22, 2025.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this in a weekly operational update issued in Abuja on Monday.
According to him, troops under Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East repelled an ISWAP attack on a Forward Operating Base in Mairari, neutralising two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) before they could breach the facility.
“The attempted VBIED attacks were detected and neutralised, preventing base penetration and inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists,” Onoja said.
He added that troops recovered arms, ammunition, communication gadgets and motorcycles, while dismantling terrorist logistics networks and arresting collaborators.
In the North-West, Onoja said troops of Operation Fansan Yamma neutralised terrorists across Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina and Niger states, rescuing kidnapped victims and intercepting ransom money.
“Troops intercepted ₦9 million intended for ransom payment during routine checks in Kaduna State,” he revealed.
In the North-Central, operations under Enduring Peace and Whirl Stroke led to the rescue of over 60 abducted persons and the arrest of suspected kidnappers across Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Kogi and Kwara states.
The military also arrested two impostors in Edo State for impersonating the Chief of Army Staff.
In the South-South, Onoja disclosed that troops under Operation Delta Safe foiled oil theft worth ₦15,697,975, destroyed illegal refineries and arrested oil thieves and gunrunners.
“The Armed Forces will sustain this operational momentum, especially during the festive period, to ensure the safety of lives and critical infrastructure,” he said.
