‎The Nigerian Army has recorded a string of operational successes in recent days, resulting in the arrest of a high-profile terror suspect, neutralization of insurgents, recovery of arms and ammunition, and surrender of terrorists across multiple theatres.

‎According to an official statement, troops of 2 Brigade, working with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Port Harcourt Command, on October 7, 2025, raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, and arrested Emmanuel Akpan, a notorious kidnap kingpin operating along the Oron/Ibaka corridor. The suspect remains in DSS custody for detailed interrogation.

‎On October 8, 2025, troops of 196 Amphibious Battalion, Baga, arrested an ISWAP/JAS terrorist who attempted to infiltrate the town under the guise of a repentant fighter. Investigations showed he was an intelligence courier between terror cells in Chad and Niger Republic. He has been handed over to 403 Amphibious Brigade for further investigation.

‎Also, troops of 4 Demonstration Battalion, on routine checks along the Lere–Saminaka–Kaduna Road in Sabon Birni LGA, Kaduna State, intercepted two suspects transporting 1,307 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The items were being conveyed from Barakin Ladi, Plateau State, to Zamfara State.

‎In Niger State, three ISWAP terrorists, including a female, surrendered to troops of 68 Battalion at Bosso, attributing their decision to sustained military pressure. Similarly, troops of 222 Battalion at Bazamri Village, Konduga LGA, Borno State, engaged terrorists in combat, recovering two RPG bombs and 150 rounds of 7.62x54mm ammunition.

‎Elsewhere, the Army reported that troops dismantled several illegal refining sites, recovered over 6,650 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, and seized boats and vehicles used for transporting stolen crude oil in Rivers, Delta, Imo, Ebonyi, and Plateau States.

‎The Army assured that it remains resolute in defending the nation, safeguarding law-abiding citizens, and fostering an environment conducive to peace and economic progress.
