Media personality and actress, Toke Makinwa, has shared a deeply emotional reflection on how motherhood is transforming her life and bringing healing from past pain.

Toke Makinwa, who welcomed her first child, a daughter named Yakira Eliana, in August 2025, took to social media on Saturday, September 27, to open up about the profound impact of becoming a mother.

In her heartfelt post, she revealed that raising her daughter is helping her confront and overcome childhood trauma and grief that she thought she had long suppressed.

Toke’s emotional past

The media star lost both her biological parents in a tragic fire accident during her childhood, an experience she has spoken about in the past as one of the most painful chapters of her life.

According to her, the arrival of her daughter has reopened some of those wounds, but in a redemptive and healing way.

Toke Makinwa said …

“My daughter brought me healing, she is daily healing parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing, healing from my childhood trauma, from grief I thought I had dealt with a long time ago. God knew I needed this.”.
