The 2025 celebration, themed: “The Rebirth of the Tiv Nation,” featured cultural performances, reflections on the Tiv journey, conferment of honorific chieftaincy titles, and renewed calls for peace, unity and development across Tiv land.
Governor Alia urged Tiv sons and daughters to remain proud of their identity, live in peace and unity, and work collectively for the progress of the Tiv Nation.
He expressed gratitude for the honorific title of Asôrtar-u-Tiv conferred on him, describing a Tiv title as a profound honour that comes with responsibility and commitment to service.
He added that the recognition would further motivate him to intensify developmental efforts across Benue State.
The governor also unveiled the Tiv–English Dictionary, describing it as a major milestone in the preservation and revival of Tiv language and culture.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, described Tiv Day as a celebration of identity, unity and cultural pride.
