Tinubu’s vision will make Nigeria economically independent — Reno Omokri

Former presidential aide and social commentator, Reno Omokri, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his role in establishing the Lekki Free Trade Zone and supporting the Dangote Refinery project.

Omokri stated that the refinery, one of Africa’s largest, was a product of Tinubu’s foresight as Lagos State governor and would make Nigeria economically independent.

According to him, Tinubu’s developmental policies have laid the foundation for industrial growth and reduced Nigeria’s reliance on imported petroleum products.

Mixed public reactions trail statement

Omokri’s comments sparked intense debate on social media, with many Nigerians questioning his objectivity.

One critic asked, “Reno Omokri, why didn’t you ask Tinubu why Nigeria’s refineries aren’t working? Is it easier for Dangote to own one than for Nigeria?”

Others accused Omokri of hypocrisy and opportunism, while some described his tone as “calm but deceptive,” claiming he often defends power to stay relevant in public discourse.

Supporters commend Tinubu’s leadership

Despite the criticism, some Nigerians supported Omokri’s view, describing President Tinubu as a visionary leader.

Jagaban is a true leader with focus and commitment to turn things right,” one supporter commented, while others dismissed the praise as “eye service.”

The Dangote Refinery, located within the Lekki Free Trade Zone, remains a symbol of Nigeria’s industrial ambition and a key talking point in Tinubu’s legacy of economic transformation.
