The national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has assured that the reforms being carried out by the administration of President Bola Tinubu will benefit Nigeria in the long run, saying the President, unlike his predecessors, has demonstrated the political will to tackle Nigeria’s age-old problems which others shied away from.
Morka, who was speaking on Politics Today, monitored by Nigerian Tribune, said Tinubu is simply doing what Nigerians elected him to do and will continue to do what he thinks is right, adding that he will not speak from both sides of his mouth to deceive Nigerians.
While agreeing that things are difficult, the APC chieftain said the economy under the Tinubu administration is gradually picking up and on the course of renewal and transformation that is unparalleled in the history of the country.

He said, “… Poverty was excruciating, has always been excruciating. And today, we’re coming up with a system where a President is beginning to get the handle. He didn’t seek the populace to do what Nigerians wanted to hear, to just simply appease Nigerians and score political points like Atiku Abubakar is trying to do with his promise to return Nigeria to the horrendous…
“The fact of the matter is that this President on day one told Nigerians that things would be tough. Things have been tough. But like anyone who understands the whole logic of renovation, when you renovate your house, first, you make a mess. You fix things, you re-create what works in order to make it better. This President has demonstrated political will that no other president has demonstrated to tackle Nigeria’s aging problems at its roots. Today, this country is on the threshold of… on the course of renewal, on the kind of transformation that is unparalleled in the history of our country. Presidents have come and gone. President Jonathan was president, President Yar’Adua was president, President Obasanjo was president.”
When asked if he was saying that Tinubu was better than the aforementioned former presidents, Morka said, “I’m not naming names of presidents but I can tell you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and I say that and I double that number that when all this is all said and done, that this President will emerge the most honest, the most candid, the most effective President this country has seen in her Republic. And I say that without equivocation because you know what, all of the presidents you mentioned who came before him all romanced the problem, the festering wound of this country.”
The APC spokesman added that President Tinubu is working on macroeconomics that will improve the general economy of the country and will be to the benefit of every Nigerian, as he challenged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to tell Nigerians how he intends to bring back the subsidy and how he plans to pay for it.
“Let me tell Nigerians, when you come into a system, micro economic is the superstructure of any economy, that is where it happens. It’s the micro economic condition that gives rise to condition on a micro economic level. Now, if you don’t fix your micro economy like this President is fixing, you can never, not today, not tomorrow, not ever have micro economy conditions that are favourable to our people. This President really took an oath to serve. My point to you is that the President is doing what he was elected to do to fix the problems at its roots… Every Nigerian who has been asked have said that Atiku Abubakar is simply just to populist sentiments if he says he’s going to return subsidy. I want to watch a show where you will bring His Excellency, former vice president to ask him exactly, just a simple question, how exactly do you plan to pay for subsidy that you’ve told Nigerians you’ll return assuming you are elected? I know he’s not going to be elected because know better that to elect a man who’s simply speaking to be heard,” Morka stated.
