‎Tinubu Sends Shettima to Kebbi, Vows to Rescue Abducted Schoolgirls

‎…Mourns Brigadier General, Soldiers Killed in Borno

‎President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dispatched Vice President Kashim Shettima to Kebbi State on Wednesday to commiserate with the government and families of the schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu LGA.

‎The President said the visit is to reassure worried parents and Nigerians that the Federal Government is mobilising all necessary security assets to ensure the girls are rescued without delay.

‎In a statement on Tuesday, Tinubu also expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba and several soldiers during a fierce encounter with insurgents in Borno State.

‎The Commander-in-Chief said he had been fully briefed on the two incidents, describing them as painful tragedies. He commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts taken to prevent the abduction despite earlier intelligence warnings of an imminent bandit attack.

‎Tinubu condemned the attack on the school and stressed that intelligence sharing remains crucial to defeating terrorism and banditry across the country.

‎“As Commander-in-Chief, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes,” the President said.

‎“I am also depressed that heartless terrorists have disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls. I have directed the security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back to Kebbi State.”

‎He urged traditional rulers, community leaders and residents—especially in security-prone areas—to support security agencies with timely intelligence.

‎“Our security forces cannot succeed without the people. Your cooperation is crucial,” he said.
