Former lawmaker and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Bimbo Daramola, has said President Bola Tinubu and Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, have both earned second terms through their performance and people-oriented policies.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti, Daramola said both leaders have shown “visionary commitment” to governance that directly impacts citizens, adding that Nigerians were already feeling the positive results in sectors like education, health, and energy.
According to him, those criticising early endorsements of the duo “are missing the point,” noting that gratitude from citizens who have benefitted from government programmes should not be dismissed as political noise.
Tinubu’s reforms are working, Daramola insists
Daramola, who represented Ekiti North Federal Constituency, said President Tinubu’s reforms, particularly the education loan scheme and improved power supply, have significantly touched lives across Nigeria.
He said, “When students who were about to drop out can now access loans, or when families begin to enjoy constant power supply, you can’t expect them to keep quiet. People naturally praise good leadership.”
The APC stalwart described the President as “a man delivering tangible results,” adding that early expressions of support from citizens were signs of confidence in his government’s direction ahead of 2027.
Oyebanji’s record speaks for itself
On Ekiti politics, Daramola dismissed the opposition as “invisible,” insisting that Governor Oyebanji’s record of infrastructural renewal, peace, and youth empowerment has already positioned him for victory in 2026.
He noted that most of the governor’s critics “ignore the facts,” including new hospital projects, rural electrification, and payment of workers’ benefits. “You cannot tell pensioners or farmers in Ekiti that Oyebanji hasn’t delivered. They’ve seen the impact themselves,” he added.
He also revealed that Oyebanji enjoys the backing of former governors and major political figures in Ekiti, saying the APC structure across the state is “too strong and united” to be defeated.
‘Health is wealth’: Daramola defends BAO walk
The former lawmaker also addressed claims that his “BAO Health Walk” was a political strategy, explaining that it was a genuine campaign for lifestyle change and public fitness.
Daramola said the initiative, which has reached eight local government areas, encourages residents to embrace physical activity and preventive health measures. “You have to be healthy to play politics. Dead men don’t tell tales,” he said.
He added that the walk has become a platform for health awareness, with medical teams offering free tests and advice. “We don’t just walk, we promote healthy living. A sedentary life kills faster than poison,” he stated.
