President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), on her birthday.

The President described her as an exemplary public servant whose dedication and integrity have consistently advanced Nigeria’s global image.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu reflected on Dabiri-Erewa’s remarkable journey across journalism, politics, and public service.

He noted that her professional excellence and leadership continue to inspire younger generations, particularly women in governance.

The President lauded her commitment to bridging the gap between Nigeria and its citizens abroad, emphasising that her work at NIDCOM has strengthened the nation’s connection with its diaspora community, enhancing foreign investment and collaboration opportunities.

From NTA to NIDCOM, a journey of consistent impact

Tinubu recalled Dabiri-Erewa’s early career at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), where she earned national admiration for her empathy and professionalism as a journalist.

Her storytelling ability and focus on human-interest issues, the President said, laid the foundation for her later contributions in public service.

Transitioning into politics, Dabiri-Erewa served three consecutive terms in the House of Representatives, where she chaired both the Committees on Media and Publicity and Diaspora Affairs.

Her legislative work shaped policy reforms on diaspora engagement and international cooperation.

According to the statement, her leadership in these roles showcased a deep understanding of Nigeria’s evolving relationship with its citizens abroad and reinforced her passion for the country’s development.

Tinubu commends vision, leadership, and patriotism

President Tinubu applauded Dabiri-Erewa’s relentless advocacy for Nigerians living abroad, noting her role in providing diplomatic support, repatriation assistance, and reintegration for citizens facing challenges overseas.

He stressed that her compassion and foresight have positioned NIDCOM as a vital institution in the country’s foreign affairs ecosystem.

He highlighted her ability to attract diaspora talent and resources into critical sectors such as health, education, and entrepreneurship, contributing significantly to national development.

Tinubu described her as “a woman whose patriotism and purpose-driven leadership continue to inspire hope in Nigeria’s future.”

The President further observed that the numerous awards and recognitions she has received are well-earned honours that reflect her service to humanity, her unwavering integrity, and her enduring belief in a better Nigeria.
