A 27-year-old man lost his life during a robbery attempt in Obwolo area, Kisumu County.
The incident occurred at a local chemist along the Mamboleo-Guba Road, where Edward Osamba was among several customers present when a gang of three men arrived on a motorcycle.
Witnesses reported that the gang stormed the chemist and ordered everyone outside before forcing them to lie down.
Osamba resisted their commands, which led one of the assailants to pull out a G3 rifle concealed in a bag. He shot Osamba in the head at close range, killing him instantly. The attackers fled the scene on their motorcycle without stealing anything.
Police officers arrived shortly after and recovered two live rounds of ammunition and two spent cartridges. The body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and a manhunt has been launched to track down the suspects.
Police have appealed to the public to provide any information that could help in apprehending the suspects.
