Three people, including a woman and a child, were killed while three others sustained injuries in a road crash involving a Yutong VVIP bus and a Toyota Sienna along the Bolgatanga-Zebilla-Bawku highway in Ghana’s Upper East Region.
The accident occurred on Saturday at Yikurigu in Zebilla as the Yutong VVIP bus was travelling towards Bawku while the Toyota Sienna was heading in the opposite direction towards Bolgatanga.
Authorities said three occupants of the Toyota Sienna, a man, a woman and a child died at the scene following the collision.
“The crash resulted in the death of three occupants of the Toyota Sienna at the scene, including a man, a woman, and a child,” officials said in a statement.
Three male occupants of the Yutong VVIP bus, including the driver, sustained injuries and were rushed to Zebilla Hospital for treatment.
Officials said the injured victims are receiving medical attention, while investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the accident.
“The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined and remains under investigation,” the statement added.
Authorities expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery, assuring that further details would be made available as investigations progress.
