The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church (IESC) Worldwide, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has condemned the practice of some gospel singers charging what he described as exorbitant fees to minister in churches.
Reacting to a viral video of a gospel artiste crying out for financial assistance on the internet, the cleric said such situations are often caused by the singers themselves due to their rigid “protocols” and high demands.
Ayodele stated that it is troubling for gospel musicians to commercialize their ministry and later turn to the public for help in times of need. “They are the cause because of their protocols,” he said. “They will charge church N4 million not knowing that when they are in need, it’s the church that will help them.”
According to him, the church remains a spiritual and moral support system, and it is contradictory to burden it with excessive charges.
The prophet stressed that while gospel singers deserve honor and appreciation, ministry should not be treated purely as a business venture.
He argued that the essence of gospel music is to win souls and glorify God, not to impose financial strain on congregations.
Ayodele maintained that a balance must be struck between professionalism and genuine service in order to preserve the spiritual integrity of gospel ministration.See_More…
