There Was A Time When Somebody Cut Off The South-East In Terms Of Railway Transportation–Edochie

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, March 6, 2026, veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has raised concerns about the difficulty of accessing basic amenities in Nigeria.

He described the growing hardship associated with maintaining essential services and the financial pressure placed on individuals who must secure these amenities on their own.

The actor discussed the worsening economic environment in the country and explained that the rising cost of living has made it increasingly difficult for many people to manage everyday expenses.

He revealed details about the amount he spends regularly to maintain services such as electricity, explaining that the cost has become a significant burden.

Pete Edochie expressed dissatisfaction with the situation, noting that individuals are increasingly forced to shoulder responsibilities that would normally be provided through public infrastructure and stable utility systems.

The 78-year-old actor also spoke about national infrastructure development, pointing to what he described as unequal distribution of major projects across different parts of the country.

He alleged that certain political leaders have sidelined the South-East region when allocating infrastructure, particularly in relation to railway transportation.

According to him, the absence of consistent development in transport infrastructure in that region reflects a broader pattern that continues to affect economic and social activities.

Pete Edochie made these remarks during a recent appearance on the programme JIGSAW aired on AIT, where he spoke about the economic realities affecting Nigerians and the financial demands of sustaining daily utilities.

“There was a time when somebody cut off the South-East in terms of railway transportation. Why must there be consistency in going backwards?” he asked.See_More…
