According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, March 29, 2026, a health worker who was among three staff members abducted from the Comprehensive Primary Health Centre located in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure in Ondo State has shared details of the incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
The survivor, identified as Omolabake Kayode, described how the attack unfolded when armed men invaded the government-owned medical facility during the night.
According to her account, the attackers arrived unexpectedly, creating panic among those present at the centre.
She explained that the assailants stormed the premises at about 2am, catching the health workers on duty unprepared.
The sudden appearance of the armed group led to confusion, as some staff members managed to escape while others were overpowered during the chaos.
Kayode stated that she and two of her colleagues were forcibly taken away by the attackers.
She recounted how they were dragged out of the facility and made to leave with the armed men, who had come in a vehicle used for the operation.
The incident left the remaining workers at the health centre in distress, as those who escaped fled the scene to avoid being captured.
The attackers, after seizing their victims, quickly departed from the premises, leaving behind a trail of fear and disruption at the facility.
While in captivity, Kayode described the conditions they were subjected to, explaining that the abductors transported them away from the area before abandoning them under distressing circumstances.
She noted that the experience was frightening and left them uncertain about their safety.
“After a while, they drove off and left us naked in the bush. My shirt fell off, so I picked it and wore it. We were terrified for our lives,” she narrated.
