A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after claiming she was asked to leave an introduction ceremony because she once dated the groom over a decade ago.
According to the lady in a video shared on TikTok, she briefly dated the groom in secondary school around 2010 before they lost contact. Years later, she was invited by her elder sister, a close friend of the groom, to attend the introduction ceremony.
In her words, she said:
“I got walked out of an introduction right now, and it was so embarrassing because I have never experienced anything like that in my life.”
She alleged that shortly after arriving at the venue, members of both families held a private meeting before the groom informed her sister that the bride did not want her present because she was his ex-girlfriend.
According to the lady, the groom allegedly told her sister that the bride had threatened to cancel the introduction if she remained at the venue, leaving her with no choice but to leave.
“He told my sister the meeting they were having was because of me. The bride said if I didn’t leave the venue, she wouldn’t go ahead with the introduction. That was how I was walked out. We don’t even have each other’s contacts anymore,” she added.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users sympathising with the lady and describing the experience as humiliating, while others defended the bride’s decision.
The story has also reignited conversations about trust and boundaries in relationships, with many Nigerians divided over whether the bride overreacted or was simply protecting her peace.
