The Apology Is An Error, I Was Put Under Pressure By People I Call Friends Who Are Not Friends-Okafor

The founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, Chris Okafor, has withdrawn the apology he earlier extended to actress Doris Ogala and other women he claimed to have offended in the past.

In December 2025, PREMIUM TIMES reported that the cleric had publicly apologised following allegations raised by Ms Ogala, including claims that he failed to fulfil a promise of marriage. The apology came amid growing public criticism and online reactions.

However, in a recent video recorded during a church service and later circulated online, Mr Okafor clarified that his earlier apology had been misinterpreted. He explained that he made the statement because respected church leaders who supported him were being criticised in connection with the controversy, and he wanted to prevent them from being further dragged into the matter.

According to Premium Times, he specifically mentioned Matthew Ashimolowo, Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, and David Abioye, founder of Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, among others, as individuals he sought to protect from public scrutiny.

According to him, his earlier reference to “any lady that was mentioned” should no longer be interpreted as an admission of wrongdoing. He stated that he does not apologise for actions he did not commit, was not aware of, or was never involved in, thereby formally withdrawing the apology as it related to those allegations.

Further talking, he said, “For somebody I do not know and somebody I haven’t met face to face. So thereby, that’s an error. That apology is hereby withdrawn completely. There was no such apology. And only, it is a big error.

“I was put under pressure by some people whom I call friends who are not really friends. They say, oh, just say like this. I say, but how do you say I should apologise? If I apologise, it means I’m accepting.

“I said, no. I said, but there’s a caveat to it. That is why I said when I apologise, I mention the fathers, I mention fathers of faith like Pastor Matthew and Bishop Abioye.”

Mr Okafor further explained that his decision to address the misunderstanding surrounding his earlier apology should not be seen as an attempt to justify himself before anyone.

He stated that he chose what he described as the proper course of action, expressing confidence that it would ultimately stand the test of time.

He emphasised that the matter was not about reactions or debates on social media, but about establishing the truth, which he maintained would eventually be revealed.See_More…
