TCN Begins 10-Day Maintenance On Gombe Transmission Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a 10-day maintenance exercise on its Gombe 132/33kV Transmission Substation, a move expected to cause temporary power disruptions in parts of Gombe State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, TCN said the routine preventive maintenance will take place from October 14 to 24, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.

The company explained that the exercise is aimed at improving power stability and enhancing the efficiency of the transmission network across the North-East region.

According to TCN, the maintenance will involve replacing protection and control panels on the Shongo 33kV Feeder 8, requiring a temporary shutdown of certain feeders.

“To minimise inconvenience, load from the Shongo 33kV feeder will be transferred to the Darazo 33kV feeder, while the load on Mallam Sidi will be moved to the Doma 33kV feeder,” the statement read.

The company assured that the Jos Electricity Distribution Company would continue to receive bulk power throughout the exercise.

Mbah noted that preventive maintenance is vital to avoiding system failures and ensuring long-term service reliability.

“We appeal for public understanding and cooperation as we work to improve the quality and stability of electricity supply in Gombe and its environs,” she added.
